MIHM-Tell us a little bit about you, where are you from and what inspired you to pursue a career in the Entertainment industry?
SMP-I am originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia and moved further west of the city when I was a teenager. My father, an immigrant of the Philippines, was a hard-working engineer and my mother stayed home with me and my 3 siblings. We did not have a lot of money, clothes, and sometimes food, but regardless of that, I truly had a very happy childhood. With the absence of money, we did not have the opportunity to do a lot of things outside of our home. So, we spent most of our time watching TV, and more specifically, old Hollywood Films (my mother was a huge fan). I grew up with Ginger Rogers, Bette Davis, Rita Hayworth, Fred Astaire, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Lucille Ball, and Donald O’Connor – just to name a few. I remember as a kid watching these films and being emersed with the passion and emotions of the characters. It was an escape for me. As I grew older, I realized that those fascinating people were just actors, real people playing a part. Their job was to pretend and to become another person, all for the purposes of entertainment and escape for others to enjoy. That is what truly inspired me to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

MIHM- You are strongly committed to save Animals and Saving the Planet. How do you think you can make a difference?
SMP-That is a great question and one I hope more people think about. I do everything I can to make very little impact on the environment and give back to the earth as much as I can. I am very conscious when I shop and how I behave as a consumer. I am also very fortunate to own a farm, where my focus is sustainability. I grow and preserve as much of my own food as possible. On my farm I also rescue animals, specifically farm animals that would have otherwise been exploited in the mass production of meat and dairy.

Caring for these animals is a passion of mine. Its hard work, but very rewarding. I understand that the lifestyle I chose is not for everyone, but I believe everyone can make tiny differences in their lives and their consumption to make less of an impact on the environment. I’m THRILLED to see more and more companies are reducing or eliminating single use plastics. The reason for this is simple… if we demand less of it, corporations will supply less of it. Every single person has the power to make a difference in either what you buy or what you eat.

MIHM- You love speeding around on a Harley Davidson, why this is so important to you?
SMP-Riding around is probably my most favorite way to relax and feel free. There is just something about the rumble of the motor beneath you and the feeling of the wind on you face. When I am on a Harley, it is never about the destination, its about the ride itself. I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to see some of the most beautiful views in the United States from the Pacific Coast Highway to U.S. Route 1 through the Keys, and Southwest points like Tonto National Park and the Apache Trail. All of this could have been enjoyed in a car, but the experience is completely difference on a bike.

MIHM-If you could work with somebody you admire, celebrity, politician, musician, leader or anybody else who would it be and why?
SMP-As Cher would say, If I could turn back time… I would love to work with some of my old Hollywood favorites. I would love to work on a movie set with Ava Garner, Judy Garland, Jane Russel, Gene Kelly, Audrey Murphy just to name a few. I would also love to work with one of Hollywood’s greatest directors including Clint Eastwood, Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, or Francis Ford Coppola. My reason for this is because these people are all artist and I sincerely appreciate this art, talent, and the beauty of the entertainment.

MIHM-Define what success means to you?
SMP-Success is accomplishing what is most important to you at whatever period of time in your life. It is not about money or fortune. It is about self-fulfillment, and that can mean very different things when you are 20 versus when you are 60.

MIHM-Who have been your biggest mentors in your career?
SMP-My biggest mentor throughout my career and the person I admire the most is my best friend, who has really been the driving force in everything I have done thus far. Other than that, I cannot really say I have had many others. I really believe that if there is something you truly want and are willing to work hard towards, then a positive mindset and strong ambition is what matters most. You are your own strongest and greatest mentor!
MIHM-What other projects are you working on right now?
SMP-I wish I could say I was on set at this very moment, but unfortunately COVID has put a hold on 3 film projects for me. I’m hoping I can be back on set by the end of 2021. For now, I am looking forward to a major shoot I have lined up in Vegas this fall, and I’m putting together a solid acting reel so that I can further promote my talents. I’ve been spending a lot of time on my farm, taking care of animals, riding dirt bikes and Harleys!
